Nathanial is the Founder & Managing Partner of Responder Ventures which is the result of his deep experiences as an investor, entrepreneur, and practitioner in the public safety markets. In addition to leading Responder Ventures focus on investing in innovation for public safety, Nathanial is an active Reserve Deputy and Detective with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. He has extensive operational experience in procurement, sales, marketing and operations within early stage growth oriented companies. He is an active board member of several portfolio companies.
Since 2004, Nathanial has been making investments across a variety of sectors and is a Managing Member of Wish Investments, a single family office with diverse public and private investments. He grew up in the Palm Beach area and has his paramedic license and pilot’s license and is active in the local philanthropic community.
Dennis Weiner is a results producing chief executive with extensive sworn public safety and military experience. He is a leader in empowering Intelligence-led Policing-based operations through Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems adoption and implementation. He has advanced knowledge of law enforcement agency operations, emergency management, and strategic planning. He has excellent communication, motivational and decision-making skills. Previously Bryce was an Associate for Zacks Investment Banking, a 600-person financial services firm headquartered in Chicago, IL, where he was responsible for valuation, due diligence and financial modeling for the firm’s investment banking and capital markets operations. Prior to joining Zacks, Bryce was the Senior Analyst at Ancor Capital Partners, a lower-middle market private equity firm. Jason T. Welch is the Managing Partner of R.I.C. Executive Search. A South Florida native, Jason is primarily responsible for the management of client relationships (recruiting and retaining top executives) as well as design and implementation of new organizational development initiatives for clients focused on leadership, career success and peak performance in the workplace.
Prior to joining R.I.C. in 2001, Jason co-founded an eCommerce company where he was Vice President of Business Development. Jason also spent a number of years with AutoNation, Inc., the FORTUNE 100, automotive giant. In his years at AutoNation he influenced many as a Training Specialist who traveled the country sharing the company vision. His leadership, enthusiasm and sincerity helped him become a premier training professional, known to many across the country. After his years in training, Jason became a Purchasing Manager at AutoNation where he was responsible for managing more than $25 million in commodities and reducing millions of dollars in expenses on an annual basis. Giving back to the community is a priority for Jason. He serves on the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of South Florida, where he is the Chairman of the Board. In addition, he is an active member of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Unit and coaches Little League Baseball teams. Over the years, Jason has volunteered his time with numerous projects such as Habitat for Humanity, Volunteer Broward, and teaching Junior Achievement elementary school curriculum. He is a trained firefighter paramedic and has served as such in the cities of Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale, and Chattanooga. He is currently serving the community as a sworn law enforcement officer with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office as a Reserve Deputy. Joe sits on the board of directors and serves as Treasurer for the AC Delray Soccer Club, the recreation and travel soccer club for introducing and developing children to the sport in Delray Beach. Joe is married and has raised his two kids in the South Florida area where he has lived for 23 years. He is a licensed pilot, scuba diver, amateur radio operator, and enjoys numerous other hobbies.
Max Kramer is a longtime public safety innovator and brings a wealth of experience to Responder Ventures. Currently, Kramer is the Founder & CEO of Centinel Solutions, Inc., which provides law enforcement, security, and military agencies the first-ever, patent-pending, firearm mounted camera end-to-end encrypted solution that offers clarity and support to law enforcement agencies. Kramer brings his extensive experience and will lean on his keen understanding of the Public Safety Marketplace.
Gisli Olafsson is the Chief Technology Officer of Beringer Finance, the largest technology-focused investment bank in Europe. Gisli has been active in the IT industry for over 30 years, ever since he sold his first program at the age of 14. He worked for 10 years at Microsoft, where he was involved in product development, sales, technical evangelism, and most recently as a trusted advisor to national governments and international organizations on the effective use of technology in their operations.
Gisli’s deep understanding of technology, his long-time software product development expertise, and his extensive network inside and outside of the technology industry enables him to quickly provide value to technology companies. Gisli has also over the past 15 years worked closely with the startup community and is an advisory board member and a member of the board of directors of numerous startups. Prior to joining Beringer Finance in 2015, Gisli served as the Emergency Response Director of NetHope, a consortium of 50 of the leading non-profit organizations in the world. Gisli is one of the leading experts in the world on the use of technology in disaster response and is a sought after speaker, trainer, and advisor on the role technology can play in enhancing the response to large-scale natural and man-made disasters. Gisli continues to serve as a Humanitarian Advisor to NetHope. Prior to joining NetHope, Gisli has over 20 years of experience in the field of disaster management and was an active member of the United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) team, a team of experienced disaster managers which are on stand-by to deploy anywhere in the world on a 6 hour notice to coordinate the first response of the international community to disasters on behalf of the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Gisli has participated in disaster field missions in connections with floods in Ghana (2007), Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar (2008), Hurricane Ike in Texas (2008), Sichuan Earthquake (2008), Pandemic Outbreak (2009), West Sumatra Earthquake (2009), Haiti Earthquake (2010), Japan Earthquake/Tsunami (2011), Horn of Africa Famine (2011), Philippine’s Typhoons (2012 and 2013), West Africa Ebola Outbreak (2014-2015), and European Refugee Crisis (2015). Following the devastating earthquake in Haiti 2010, Gisli led the first international rescue team that arrived in the country. The combination of Gisli’s extensive field experience in disaster management and technology background provides Gisli a deep understanding how technology can be applied to solve the most challenging collaboration issues faced in austere environments. This has led him to be appointed to various advisory boards and committees, such as the US State Department’s sub-committee on the use of technology in international disasters. Gisli was named a UNICEF Humanitarian Innovation Fellow and a Technology Partner Network Advisor to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2013. In 2014, Gisli published the book The Crisis Leader, about the role of leadership in times of crisis, leveraging examples from his missions around the world to provide readers with an insight into the key aspects of leadership critical during chaotic times like disasters. The book has been translated into two languages and been sold worldwide. Gisli holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science and Chemistry from Copenhagen University (Denmark 1993). Marc Glasser’s career spans over three decades of public and private sector service including law enforcement, homeland security, emergency management, academics, research, and training. Marc has worked in over 90 countries. Marc is most excited about technology and innovation. He is the founder and CEO of the recent start-up Esilient™. Marc was the CEO of RM (Resilience Management) LLC. RM LLC is a security, crisis management, and business continuity services company. Marc’s US Government service included serving as a Special Agent with the US Department of State and US Department of Transportation. He managed the critical infrastructure branch and staff protecting the US National Air Space (NAS) for an eight-state region with approximately 200 staffed and 1,100 unstaffed facilities. He managed a Federal Continuity of Operations (COOP) program involving 12 western states and the South Pacific. He served as a Federal Emergency Response Official (FERO) and Regional Emergency Transportation Representative team member in support of the National Response Framework (NRF) Emergency Support Function #1 involving Federal responses to incidents of national significance. He has supervised or conducted over 600 threat and vulnerability assessments addressing natural disasters, technical disruptions and terrorist risks. He conducted Federal criminal and civil investigations and presidential appointee-level suitability investigations. He has served in a Fusion Center and as a FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) and FBI Organized Crime Task Force member. He served on three US Secretary of State’s Protective Details. He served as a US Department of State Diplomatic Courier ensuring the integrity of Top Secret materials. He is a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), Glynco, Georgia. During college, Marc served as a Texas Department of Corrections Correctional Officer and a Maximum Security correctional facility. He has presented at national and international conferences. He participates on multiple professional associations, academic and editorial boards. His publications include industry practitioner and academic peer-reviewed journal articles. He has been a professor at six universities, teaching and developing curriculum, in over 50 different course subjects. He holds a Master of Science in Crisis and Emergency Management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and a Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement and Police Science from Sam Houston State University. John Thompson has spent 30 years supporting the Federal and State and Local public safety market place in numerous leadership roles at Motorola.
